Pair of Art Nouveau Silver Pendants E.Dropsy C.1902

€985,00
Beautifully preserved pair of original Art Nouveau swivel mirrors from France Circa.1902, both signed by the renowned medalist Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy.
Historically known as Miroirs de Bal (Dance Mirrors), individuals would wear these on long chains or chatelaines to evening events and dances so they could discreetly check their hair or makeup. Just slide the heavy silver covers aside to reveal a perfect little hidden mirror inside each pendant.
This matching set represents the classic Art Nouveau motif of "Night and Day" (Jour et Nuit), featuring gorgeous botanical details on the outside and functional antique history on the inside. The front of each mirror features the finely crafted profile of a young lady, elegantly framed by distinct flora:
The "Night" Mirror (Poppy): Drifts into dreamland surrounded by sleepy poppies.
The "Day" Mirror (Iris): Wakes the world back up framed by bold irises.
Finding a complete, matched thematic pair by Dropsy is incredibly uncommon.
They are available to be sold as a complete pair or separately upon request.
