Victorian 18ct Gold Forget Me Not Mourning Ring
€1.175,00
A beautifully preserved Victorian "Forget-Me-Not" mourning ring, fully hallmarked for London, 1872.
Rooted in the 19th-century language of flowers (floriography), the forget-me-not bloom was the ultimate Victorian emblem of eternal remembrance, true love, and enduring devotion. Handcrafted in rich 18-carat yellow gold, this ring centers on a marquise-shaped sardonyx panel delicately carved in hardstone cameo relief with a blooming forget-me-not flower.
The carved center is framed by beaded gold granulation and accented with classic black enamel inlay—the traditional symbol of solemn mourning. Each diamond-shaped shoulder is set with a single, glowing natural seed pearl, traditionally chosen in memorial jewelry to represent tears shed for the departed.
Fully dated London artifact that combines sentimental floriography with wearable antique elegance.
